Emmanuel Adebayor was born on the 26th of February 1984 in Lomé. While playing for the Sports Development Centre of Lomé, he was spotted by scouts from Metz, who took him to France in 1999. He made his professional debut in the club, scoring two goals in 11 appearances.
Following Metz’s relegation, he played a season in Ligue 2, where he scored 13 goals in 34 league matches, prompting a move to Monaco. At Monaco, he scored 36 goals in 115 appearances and help the team reach the 2004 UEFA Champions League final.
In January 2006, Arsenal signed Adebayor for a reported £3 million. He spent four seasons at the club, scoring 62 goals in 142 appearances, without winning any trophy. In July 2009, Adebayor signed a five-year contract with Manchester City for a transfer fee believed to be £25 million.
Adebayor spent two seasons at the club, scoring 19 goals in 45 appearances. He went on a loan deal to play for Real Madrid for the remainder of the 2010–11 season. There he scored 8 goals in 22 appearances and also won the Copa Del Ray.
