The man, once a contestant on the popular TV show “Family Feud”, received a life prison sentence last week for the murder of his wife, after mocking their marriage on the show. Timothy Bliefnick, 40, was found guilty in May of fatally shooting his estranged wife, Rebecca “Becky” Postle Bliefnick, a terrifying act in which he fired 14 bullets at her. Prosecutors revealed that Bliefnick, who appeared on “Family Feud” in 2019 and divorced two years later, had conducted extensive research on how to carry out the murder, including breaking into a window with a crowbar and estimating police response time.
During his sentencing, Adams County, Ill., Judge Robert Adrian condemned Bliefnick’s actions, stating, “Mr. Bliefnick, you researched this murder. You planned this murder. You practiced this murder. You broke into her house, and you shot her one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 times.”
The victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds by her father on February 23. Bliefnick was arrested and later convicted of first-degree murder following a trial in May. The couple, who have three children, got married in 2009 and divorced in 2021. Postle Bliefnick had expressed her fear of her ex-husband to her sister before her tragic death.
Bliefnick had appeared on “Family Feud” in an episode that aired in 2020 and made disparaging remarks about his marriage, leading to host Steve Harvey asking him, “What’s the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?” to which Bliefnick replied, “Honey, I love you, but said, ‘I do.’ Not my mistake. Not my mistake. I love my wife. I’m gonna get in trouble for that, aren’t I?”
